BSidesSATX HACKENGER HUNT IS ON!!!
We are excited to be working with the amazing folks at Delta Risk for a scavenger hunt style Capture the Flag event during BSidesSATX!
Participants will attempt to find virtual flags hidden throughout the closed network environment using a mix of skills ranging from the most basic ping sweep to compile-your-own exploits.
All skill levels, individuals and teams, are welcome - bring a laptop and jack in!
(Kali distro recommended http://www.kali.org/downloads/ or get your VM image http://www.offensive-security.com/kali-llnux-vmware-arm-image-download/)
Three different challenge levels will be available.
- Ring 0 is for participants wanting to learn the basics of hacking through hands-on walkthroughs.
- Ring 1 is for participants looking to play without the pretension or pressure of a capture the flag environment.
- Ring 2 will offer a challenge for those seeking a test of their skills.
Brought to you by Delta Risk - a cyber security consulting company born and raised right here in San Antonio!
Social Engineering CTF is happening!!
BSidesSATX is pleased to announce that @SquirrelsNaBrrl (in conjunction with Lares Consulting) will be putting on a SECTF for those who wish to participate! (official rules found here)
In this event players will be able to engage in real-life social engineering scenarios within the safe confines of the CTF. Practice, learn and try out all of those social engineering skills that would otherwise be illegal to try outside of the CTF. At BSides San Antonio, players will have to target a specified company and engage in social engineering tactics to gain vital information, which will be used to attack the company’s web mail portal.
Each player will be given the designated target company’s information the first day of the event, for OSINT and recon purposes. Once in the game each player will be given a resume of the person they must impersonate while attending a formal company interview from the target company. Each player will have three minutes to read their resume before jumping into a formal interview. While in the interview each player must maintain the identity of the resume they received, and obtain as much information possible to launch an attack on the company’s web portal. No tools or automated attacks may be used on the portal, only information obtained from the interviews can be used to gain access to the portal.
Do you have what it takes to infiltrate a company with your social engineering skills and compromise their web portal?
There is only one way to find out!
Come join us for some learning and fun for ALL ages and ALL skill levels.
